Terms of Use
Effective date: 20 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Kewa Technologies, Inc. ("Kewa", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Kewa, you agree to them. Please read them with our Privacy Policy.
What Kewa is
Kewa never holds, moves or converts money. People pay each other directly, from their own bank or payment app. Kewa shows who owes whom and the details to pay with.
Kewa is not a bank, a payment service, a money transmitter or an escrow service. We don't process payments, we can't reverse or refund them, and we are not a party to any payment between users. An exchange rate shown in Kewa is one your group entered, for its own records.
Who can use Kewa
- You must be 18 or over and able to make a binding agreement.
- One account per person, with a phone number that is yours.
- You must not use Kewa if the law where you live forbids it.
Your account
We sign you in with codes and links sent to your phone number and email address, so keep them secure. You are responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else has used it, tell us at support@getkewa.com straight away. Kewa will never ask you for a sign-in code.
Payment details and requests
- The payment details you add must be accurate, and you must be entitled to receive money into that account.
- Before you pay anyone, check the details yourself. Where a provider lets us check the name on an account, Kewa shows the result; where it can't, Kewa says so. A checked name is not a guarantee.
- Kewa is not responsible for a payment made to the wrong account, a payment that was not made, or a payment your bank or payment app delays or refuses.
Groups and disagreements
Expenses, splits and balances in a group are what its members record. A disagreement about who owes what, or whether a payment was made, is between the members involved. Kewa is not a party to it, though you can ask support@getkewa.com how Kewa recorded something.
Acceptable use
Don't use Kewa to:
- commit fraud, run scams, launder money or break any law;
- harass, threaten or impersonate anyone;
- add people, or their phone numbers, who don't expect to hear from you;
- upload content you have no right to share, or that is unlawful;
- interfere with Kewa, get around its security, or copy it or its data in bulk.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, with notice where reasonable.
Messages
We send sign-in codes by SMS or WhatsApp when you ask for one, as our SMS and WhatsApp Terms describe, and important account notices by email. Links you share with other people are sent by you, from your own apps.
Fees
Kewa is free to use today. If we add paid features, we will show the price before you pay, and the features you already use for free will stay clearly marked.
Your content
What you add to Kewa stays yours. You let us store it and show it to the people you share it with, only to run Kewa. Only add photos and receipts you have the right to share.
Our service
We work to keep Kewa running and accurate, but we provide it "as is" and can't promise it will always be available or error free. We may change or stop features, and we will tell you in advance of a change that affects you significantly.
Our liability
As far as the law allows, Kewa is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses arising from payments between users. Our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$100.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer law where you live that cannot be limited by agreement, or our liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Ending your account
You can stop using Kewa at any time. To delete your account, email privacy@getkewa.com; deletion in the app is coming. When an account is deleted, the expenses and payments shared with others stay in their groups without the deleted person's details, as our Privacy Policy explains.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Kewa after that, the new terms apply.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States. If the consumer law where you live gives you the right to have it apply, or to bring a claim in your local courts, you keep that right. Before starting a claim, please contact us so we can try to sort it out.
